This new feature of the Adaptive Cruise Control system can automatically adjust the car’s set speed in response to speed limits on traffic signs. For example, when a SUPERB travelling on the motorway enters a conurbation, it decelerates to the speed limit in that zone, before accelerating again to the motorway speed limit on leaving the city.
TRAFFIC JAM ASSIST
This system provides more safety and comfort in traffic jams and stop-and-go traffic by combining the function of Lane Assist and the Adaptive Cruise Control. In a traffic jam scenario, Lane Assist provides adaptive lane guidance to help the vehicle to stay in lane at speeds below 60 km/h. If ACC is active at the same time, steering, braking and acceleration are carried out automatically, no matter how congested the road is.
A picture processing module searches the scanned pictures for known traffic signs and compares the results with the navigation data. The system processes speed limit signs, no overtaking signs and any supplementary instructions, and associated restriction clearance signs. They are shown as pictograms in the multi-functional display and/or the navigation system display.
